Monuments of The Royal Complex
The
main royal complex or the Daulat khana complex had a number of prominent
buildings including Diwan-i-Am or Hall of Public Audience, from where
Akbar listened to the petitions and gave judgment to the general public,
Diwan-i-Khas or Hall of Private Audience, where selective people such as
nobles and kings were entertained by the emperor and secret official
meetings were held, Daftar khana, the imperial record room and Maktab
khana, the translation bureau were located. This complex also boasts of
a treasury, a beautiful tank by the name of Anup Talao with a pavilion
known as 'Hujra-i-Anup Talao'. A large chaupar is paved on the court
near treasury, known popularly as 'Pachisi court'. People believe that
here Akbar used to play chaupar with his inmates. The complex is
